Blameless?

Lockhardt asks:

I read in your last entry, on the topic of sin. Amusing read, but room for improvement. Regardless, in that vein: can one be blamed for one's actions, if one were making them under duress, in ignorance, or under the direct control of another?

Mr. Lockhardt, Blame is just as personal and subjective as the idea of sin. Inherently, one should not be blamed for their actions if they were done unknowingly of the repercussions or situation, or were forced onto them by control of another. But as the old human saying goes, ‘to err is human’ - which can be translated to any sapient race. This includes the concept of judgement and blame, all are capable of error in actions and thought. So whether it IS wrong, is down to the interpretation I cannot speak from a legal basis, but from the Light. I add the full statement ‘to err is human; to forgive, divine’. Forgiveness is something the Light preaches, understanding your actions and how they have affected others, intentional or not, is the first step to grow and move on from it. It is not always the actions or the consequences, but the understanding of the effect of them. Light Bless.

Bal'a dash Sir Lockhardt! Blame is... a concept that is hard to grasp, tho easy to do... blame is subject to change and often times evolve or even devolve in its intensity and spread... It's personal... of course there is collective blame towards a certain group or individual... and with what you specifically asked... it's down to the situation... Personally... most are to be blamed in such a scenario... as in the right circumstances... with the right decisions, one may never have ended up where they are now... and required to do these acts... Tho sometimes there is no other choice or way... I can't tell you if they are to be blamed or not... I am sorry Much Love and kissies

This topic is impossible to dissect in a single letter, so I do not think I will attempt that… Our world is so heavily affected by disagreements on this particular topic; in many senses, this is one of the cornerstones of our current global political environment. I will tackle the topics of mind control, and the power of influence. True mind control is rare, for it takes a great amount of power and knowledge to break down the barriers of another’s mind. One would think that, surely, any actions made in such a state would not be made by oneself, but by the puppeteer that was in control; alas, it is not so. Consider the many undead who were held under the control of the Scourge; they did not choose to become undead monsters, yet many of those who were freed from the oppressive grasp of the Lich King are still hated. In most cases, mind control only actually works on those whose minds are susceptible to it, and even then it can be difficult to force them to perform an action they would not want to perform - particularly those with strong beliefs can be difficult to force to do otherwise - and so the question of blame becomes blurry. And that leads us to the power of influence. We all make choices based on influence, rather than our own intention, whether we know it or not. But it is important to know that, while we would not necessarily have made those choices if not for an outside force: the choices are still made by -us-.

Hurty Heads

Dai-Sing asks asks:

My dear friend, a human in her best age, unfortunately suffers from headaches regularly. My knowledge of herbal teas only goes so far, but even the healers say there is nothing wrong with her. Dear experts, do you have any advice?

Dear Dai-Sing, Headaches can sometimes come from a lack of hydration, allergies, lack of sleep, stress amongst other things. Since you mentioned herbal teas, I want to put forward that some of those can actually dehydrate you even more, like camomile for example. As the healers you consulted already stated she is healthy, perhaps it is something in her surroundings that causes the headaches. Asking about the daily routine and with what she comes into contact might help establish a list of causes you can narrow down with further experimentation, to narrow down the cause of the headaches. Best wishes in your endeavour.

Bal'a dash Dai-Sing, A headache can be caused by numerous different things... insufficient nutrients of a certain kind in one's body... working too long with files and perhaps missing the right prescription... or something, a certain illness or ailment, that person may have inherited from an ancestor... I would suggest to actually check for someone medically knowledged to check that person over... as 'Healers' often time refers to those only knowledge in one kind... that being their ability to mend wounds with certain powers or magic... which I do not mind at all myself.. weaving in my bond to the light into mending methods myself... but they have their boundaries... one of such is missing knowledge... While this is not my field of expertise, I have some knowledge of certain ailments that aren’t typically treatable by healers: curses. Many curses are not easily detectable, nor cleansable by natural means, and require very specific counter-curses to be rendered ineffective. You can try asking someone well-versed in traditional magics, such as voodoo, if you want to try that route. And… it could always be psychosomatic. If your friend is showing signs of depression or stress, perhaps that is an avenue to explore. It is difficult to diagnose this without professional help, and many suffer without knowing so.

Warm Worgen

Balcrow Cornwall asks:

I am a druid of trade, and afflicted with the curse of the worgen, and these are both presenting an unusual problem for me. I tend to travel to warm, sunkissed regions, and the heat can be unbearable with a furry coat. I can quell the heat with my magic, but I am hoping to find a more permanent solution; an enchantment, perhaps? Insights are much appreciated.

Hello Mr. Cornwall. I am no expert in the affairs of enchantments and arcane, but I know from experience there are plenty of cost-effective enchantments designed to keep away the heat. You can find many of these within the shops within the Mage Quarter of the city who should be able to assist. Good luck. Light Guide.

Dear Max, I congratulate you on your business success and even more so for the decision of sharing your wealth with those less fortunate. The Stormwind orphanage could surely benefit from a donation to improve the education and upbringing of the children in their care. Another good place to look for helping out may be the refugee camp near the embassy. Sadly it has been a while but the camp is still needed for people who couldn't get work or shelter. I hope those suggestions could help you and if not, just look around your daily life, I am sure you can find someone in need of help.
Lady Lylith Dustcloud
Bal'a dash Max, That is a noble question and it honors you that you think about such... personally, I believe it'd be most useful in Orphanages around Azeroth... the past wars and conflict have caused way too many children to lose their parents at a young age... And growing up as an Orphan myself in a chapel... I know of the pain, sorrow and guilt children go through... having to witness those caring for one often times struggling with getting assistance or the needed coin is one thing no one should go through... but it's not just about the children... A friend of Mine.. Miss Silverbell is one to care for those Orphans in Stormwind, caring for those that have become sick.. and cooking soup.. even for refugees of the war, using her own house and goods she barely manages to afford herself... she is a gentle human with a heart of gold.. tho she only has two arms.. And limited time.. In the end.. it is up to you where you spend your fortune, tho I urge you, to do so wisely and for what you believe is the right cause... Much Love and kissies

Charity, but for whom?

Max asks:

I speculate - that is my trade, in the auction house. My business acumen has built me a fortune too vast for one man, but I cannot decide to whom I should donate it. What good cause may find itself worthy?

Dear Max, First a massive congratulations on your success, it is always pleasant to hear of positive fortunes coming to people, more so to hear that one wishes to use it to benefit the lives of others. With the Fourth War now at an end, there are many who could benefit from financial aid and resources. Stormwind Orphanage sadly had an influx of children during the war so could surely benefit from any aid to help cope with the numbers, for their own educational and social growth, particularly to overcome the transition into care. Stormwind continues to host a number of refugees who have been displaced during the war, particularly the Kaldorei and Gilneans after the loss of Teldrassil. They could surely benefit from aid to find them new homes and resources as needed to help them settle into a hopefully new and prosperous life to rebuild. If you are keen to reach beyond the city, I would recommend looking into the rebuilding efforts of Westfall, poverty continues to be rife across the land. With efforts to return it to the former breadbasket status it held, a rather slow process. Farmers and citizens would welcome a chance of new tools and machinery to aid their progress and efforts. I would be remiss without mentioning the Cathedral. The Church of the Holy Light relies exclusively upon donations of the general populace to be able to provide the services we do, so should you wish to contribute there, I know it would be received very well. Of course I am a member of the church, so be aware of my bias in this. There are many other organisations out there who seek to benefit the lives of others - including the Amber Foundation. Be sure to do your research before you commit your funds. Thank you for your kind heart. Light Bless.
