It seems the case of the cult leaving red coins behind is not over yet. Last night I was hailed by a young woman at The Lion's Roar office who told me that guards had been attacked in Old Town, and off I went.
If this was a trap or not, I don't know - but as I approached the guard station in Old Town, I noticed guards forming a line and blocking access to the actual buildings. The guards seemed to be a mix of Golf and Whiskey Company and as I approached and asked what was happening, an arrow shoot past me in high speed.
The arrow nearly hit my hat; in fact, I think it may have brushed against it. Quite uncalled for. Luckily (or perhaps by design?) it did not harm my hat, nor me, but flew past and struck a crate near me.
I yelped out in surprise and quickly ducked down by some nearby crates (not that said crates offered much cover for a man my size) and the guards quickly came to my aid ushered me past the line of guards and into the nearby headquarter of Whiskey Company, where I was given a mug of coffee and a chance to sit down.
After waiting a bit and having small talk with various guards I was finally able to learn more about the arrow shot at me. The arrow came with a coin. A red coin. A red coin with a grinning skull. The arrow was not by itself dangerous (any more than arrows normally are) but the coin was handled like it might have been like the other coins. Before I could get any confirmations on this, I was told it was safe to leave and I was politely ushered out of the guard house.
Despite the guard’s willingness to talk to me then it still leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

A theory is that perhaps it was not even meant for me but one of the guards. Personally, I don't believe that as it would have had to have been a very poor marksman as I was not that close to them.
Was the woman who told me about the guards being attacked part of an elaborate setup to get me to Old Town where an assassin was lying in wait? (If the woman who told me reads this, then please get in touch with me or the guards).
Was the arrow meant to strike and hurt me? if so, was it meant to injure or kill?
Was it meant as a warning to not write more about it? (If so, they do not know me, I can horribly stubborn when someone tries to shut me up)
Did they hope I would pick up the coin and get infected?
Or perhaps it was an attempt at getting my attention? (If so, try a letter next time!).
Whichever the reasons then I’d appreciate it if any further communication was done in less dramatic ways! And if it was a murder attempt - then I hope your food will forever taste of too much salt!
In regard to the initial message from the young woman, then she was correct, guards had indeed been attacked earlier in the evening, one of them even injured. Apparently, a woman attacked them with a knife coated in venom and managed to hit one of the guards in the shoulder. So far there is no indication of that incident being connected to the above, however.
