Unfortunately, it had already spread and the mother of Knight Jason Woodbrook and one of his associates
also ended up infected.
Luckily Sir Jason Woodbrook assured me both have been cured. They are tired but in good health. His mother was taken care of by the Paladins inside the church, while a group of light-wielders formed a circle and managed to cure
outside near the Cathedral. And it is a good thing they got cured!
According to Chapter Master Vincent Haringoth who has also been involved in cleansing previous corpses, then the corpse has now been blessed and consecrated and no longer poses a threat to the public.
According to Sir Jason Woodbrook then it is not only the corpses themselves which can spread the plague.
Sir Jason Woodbrook: "This cult-.. Assassins they are made out of Sayaads, Darkfallen, and Thalassian they do not take any other mortal races within their ranks. However. This group of assassins aren’t working with the bodies only. They are using magical items as well. For example, a ring to teleport with, a choker for mind control. Poisoned arrows. We think that no one is safe at the moment. "
I had this confirmed by the guards who mentioned a ring may have been left as a calling card.
Hardhy Lester: "I was told a ring also turned up, infected, any idea if this belong to one of the victims?"
Captain Chesterfield: "Highly doubt so. They most likely belong to the killer; leaving an item behind to show people whom they are. To be afraid of the mark, in the future."
Article continues after the ad.
So be careful about handling jewellery or similar items unless you know their origin and can trust it. Even if it was in this case found by one of the victims then there is no telling if others may be in circulation. This warning especially goes out to the people of especially Old Town who specializes in finding
"lost items"
Sidenote: Apparently Adam Chesterfield got a promotion after the Golf Company reformed, and former Captain Stormblade saw herself demoted to Lieutenant. The new captain did not want to comment on the details of this but assured me that it was not due to any wrongdoings on the former Captain's part.
One, two three, forty
According to guards (Golf Company) then this whole thing started a few years back in Duskwood, a bit of a cold case, but during December it really snowballed and after the arrival of the Dracthyr, someone really took offense to them existing. A rough estimate by the guards puts the number of murdered Dracthyrs at close to forty. Considering how long it has been since they left the Dragon Isles, then that means a dead Dracthyr at least once a day.
In Stormwind four corpses has been found so far, all women, elves, and humans. The guards do not currently know who the victims are, but they have all been found with a red coin.
According to Captain Chesterfield then the coins are magical and has a grinning skull on them, he also cautions people to not use them but instead seek out the guards.
Captain Chesterfield: "If found, do not use. Deliver it to us immediately. It's for the safety of the citizens. Apparently this coin belongs to a group whom calls themselves the "Red Night". It's some sort of an assassin order that bases itself and operates around Duskwood. They seemingly act on their own accord and are considered armed and dangerous."
I asked about the fact that the guards were seen carrying the corpse when it suddenly sprang to life and how the guards will prevent this happening in the future, they do after all have to carry quite a few corpses to the morgue in an average week.
Hardhy Lester: "I know some people have already called the guards stupid for spreading it, personally I don't see how you could have known, but in the future - will you change how you deal with corpses to prevent it happening?"
Captain Chesterfield: "I have heard the same thing; yet they speak without knowing the full truth. But we'll always have those idiots. - But to answer your question; yes. We've established good ties with House Woodbrook whom will help contain and prevent the spreading. We have also gotten our hands on a shipment of gas masks. They will make us able to do our jobs without infecting our soldiers; and in turn others."
Hardhy Lester: "So I guess this also means people should not approach corpses they find, but instantly go find guards?"
Captain Chesterfield: "Indeed."
Captain Chesterfield also mentioned that Golf Company are looking for investigators and medic staff, and that aspirants for either job should get in touch with Golf Company who are stationed in Old Town.
Only thing left - for now - is hoping that the guards, paladins, and House Woodbrook can see an end to this before it escalates to as many deaths as seen in Duskwood and be careful if you spot a corpse or someone tries to give you jewellery or questionable origin.
