It has now been several weeks since the ships sailed for the Dragon Isles, taking a plethora of adventurers, craftsmen and scholars with them. During this time, the streets have felt unnaturally quiet, which many expected to be the case. However, even many weeks down the line, the markets are still exceptionally quiet, and the local economy is suffering for it.
“I’ve had to throw away so much stock,” comments Mary, a fruit vendor in Old Town, “We used to have so many customers passing by, but nowadays I’ve seen nary a single soul come down our street.”
The Dragonscale Expedition, sanctioned by the Alliance leadership, proved to be extremely popular (far moreso than expected), and seems to have taken the vast majority of consumers along with them. This has left some businesses wondering whether setting up temporary commerce on the Isles might be a prudent, short-term move.
However, officials are recommending caution when considering such a move. Already there have been reports of significant Primalist activity on the Isles, and that even the ‘major settlements’ in the area are not deemed to be entirely safe.

In addition, if all our shopkeepers were to move to the Dragon Isles, what would become of Stormwind and its economy? Would we have to travel to Ironforge just for a loaf of bread?
“It is our strong belief that patience is key here,” comments one of the Royal Advisors from Stormwind Keep, “although the streets may seem quiet for now, we’re sure that Winter Veil activities will pull everyone back to spend some time with their friends and family over the festive period.”
It is a growing concern amongst business owners that there has already been a sharp dip in expected profits over this key trading period, however, and so these words have been met with significant scepticism.
