First up - eye colour, and if the headline there didn't give it away then the pie chart here will.
When asked 3937 people answered what their eye colour is. Our SurveyBots did not get close enough to validate this, so it is entirely based on peoples honesty. Next time we may instruct the SurveyBots to use a cattle prod to validate answers, but we feel that may have a detrimental effect on the number of respondents we get. Anyway, top 10 eye colours.
As the chart shows then blue eyes is, by far, the most common (38.4%) eye colour in Stormwind followed by green (17.6%) and brown (10.9%) - if we add hazel to brown then green and brown gets a bit closer to each other). This is of course not a huge surprise as most of the people in Stormwind are - you guessed it - humans. Humans are known for many things, but one of them is a rather limited palette when it comes to eye colours, blue, green and brown being the most common. It should be mentioned that "fel green" is a separate entry in the data and not added to "green" - for those wondering then there is 67 people who gave "fel green" as the answer.
Over the last few years Stormwind has seen an influx of new races, from refugees to soldiers joining the fight on the side of the Alliance, to commoners just trying to make a living. More than once has people complained about "all the damn elves".
As the chart shows then humans are by far still the biggest population in Stormwind - 48.2% of the people our SurveyBots pressed for a reply gave "Human" as a reply in one form of another, where was "only" 32.7% answered a elven race. Now both of those races deserve a bit of deeper probing. No get your mind out of the gutter.
Of the 4776 people who answered human, we asked about any special cultural affiliation - while some of them could be considered a sub-race, others are for sure more cultural, so we bunched them together. As the chart shows then - not surprisingly - most people in Stormwind consider themselves Stormwindians, second to that is the Gilnean refugees which naturally makes up a large group as well - especially since their first port of call after the disaster in Gilneas was, as you know, burned down. Which leads us to the elves.
Article continues after the ad.
The big take here is that Void-elves and High-elves go neck to neck, but still Night-elves outnumber them even if combined. Half-elves make up a smaller population than I expected, but still a sizeable group and it would be difficult to not walk the streets of Stormwind on any given night and not run into a few half-elves.
The elephant in the room
It is time to talk about weight - I know - I know, we shouldn't have asked all the ladies and gentlemen about their weight, but SurveyBots has no shame and did so anyway. It costed us a few SurveyBots as people of both genders took offense and it turns out SurveyBots break easily when slapped.
If it stings to slap a SurveyBot we unfortunately have no data on.
Speaking of "both genders" then it should also be mentioned that while we realize not everyone thinks people should be divided into two gender categories then SurveyBots are very binary in nature and use archaic programming - so unfortunately the resulting data is also very binary when it comes to genders.
We got 3656 answers on this one. A note about how we made the chart is in order here. First, we picked the top 15 answers across both gender categories, then we counted the answers for each of those 15 categories for each gender and made the chart based on that. I think we can start out by saying the population of Stormwind are healthy when it comes to weight. Most are muscular and athletic, slim, and fit. There are almost no overweight men, and you have to go pretty far down the list to find "curvy" for women, which some may argue is not really overweight anyway. I think we can happily report that weight is not a problem in Stormwind.
For height we did the same. First, we found the fifteen most popular responses, then we checked for male and female and totalled those.
For both these categories (weight and height) we must keep in mind that it is totals - so they cover everything from the tiniest gnome to the bulkiest Draenei. We may investigate breaker those numbers down based on race later if there is interest.
To death do us part
Next, we are going to take a look at relationship status. Now granted we only gave people a few choices to pick from, and most (roughly 65%) opted to not answer - cutting our sample size down to 3027 people.
Out of these 3027 people 62% volunteered they are single, a few also added they are ready to mingle, but even if we had names, then you will have to use more traditional means to track them down. 18.2% said they are "taken" meaning in a relative exclusive relationship but not married, and 9.3% responded they are married. And then it gets interesting. 259 people are widowed, which is almost 5 times as many as people who are divorced. At first this struck me as a bit of a shock, but with recent wars, relationships of mixed race (where one part might live thousands of years longer than the other) then I suppose it makes sense. Still, you are more likely to end up being widowed - than divorced if you do marry.
