As we announced this past Saturday (the 5th) Emily Talan organised a Soup Kitchen for the people in need. The start was slow, maybe people were nervous, or ashamed, but as more people arrived just to ask about it, or for a free meal, maybe the crowds helped people to come, and dare to ask for helped, feeling protected in the anonymity given by the people around. One thing must be pointed out however, that is some people were confused with the name, as there was no soup, but other food.
Slowly a decent queue was formed to enjoy Tinka’s great burgers, fries, nuggets and more, all paired with a nice drink. According to Emily around seven gold was the total value of all the packages given, for what I could see, at least twelve packages or so were given.
But this is not all, Saskie Dorian spent quite a lot of time checking and treating people, from a cold to some bruises, even if some people seemed unaware of the injuries, they really had or did not inform of them. At some point a Kaldorei gentleman who runs a local flower shop with his life-partner, appeared as well gifting flowers around, adding his help to make everything a little better.

I had the chance to speak with some of the people looking for help, and I quickly concluded that more efforts are needed when it comes to education as so many still do not know how to read, how will they find a job if they cannot read an offer? As if finding a job was not hard enough with so many people needing one, but they also need guidance, support and to find a purpose, to feel fulfilled and to feel like they deserve help. It is heart breaking to hear people saying they do not wish to bother as if implying they do not deserve when every citizen, no matter their race, deserves it.
Luckily the whole act was peaceful, and it will be repeated next month, hopefully more people will be helped then as more will attend, as this first time served as an example that it is fine to ask for help and that some people are there willing to make Azeroth better.
