After this Sir Darius Agrovane organized the procession which went from the Cathedral to the Keep, the route passed by the Lion’s Rest where it stopped for a moment of silence at the King’s Memorial. It then followed around the canals, near the Trade District to the Stormwind Keep and the throne room.
Finally, at the Stormwind Keep, the High Lord Chancellor, Didonus L. M. Essington, gave an opening speech that seems to point this season’s theme will be stability, maybe due to the recent incidents.
High Lord Chancellor, Didonus L. M. Essington:
“Thank you. Welcome everyone to this State Opening. Let me start this State Opening by wishing you all the best wishes for the new year.
We start this session of the Court in the second year of the Regency. In doing so, we start this year once more in solemn recognition of the challenges faced by our realm in the absence of our Monarch and under guidance of the Regent.
It is often that we start a year in good fortune, hoping for a better tomorrow and leaving the challenges of yesterday behind us. To this purpose we practise traditions such as good intentions" to bolster our own effort to improve that which we did last year. - The state of the Realm is however one that does not simply allow itself to be framed as a "good intention".
Management of the realm by good intentions amounts to nothing more than paving the way to the end. A realm is managed from the premise of reality, commitment, duty and sacrifice. But above all, by the solemn commitment to take care of the realm by daring to step forward and decide what to do, rather than having an intention to do so.
The absence of our beloved King makes that we now must come to grips with the fact that the constant poking and stabbing of the balance of the realm, the management of the Realm and the organisation of this Kingdom, comes at a cost.
Stormwind is a Monarchy, now entrusted to the care of the Regent and the House of Nobles. It is in this care that we must define our priorities. - The Executive is convinced there is but one duty in light of the current state of the Realm: the duty to ensure stability.
This duty is now more important than ever. To maintain the Realm for the inevitable Return of the King.”
With this, the meeting was adjourned until next Monday. We, as well, hope our readers the best for this year, and we hope to see many interesting new petitions at Court and other meetings, we will of course continue to try to cover it all as well as we can.
